Folklore & History Rosemary has been treasured since ancient times, with Egyptians using it medicinally, and Greeks and Romans considering it a sacred plant symbolizing love and death. There are three main chemotypes of rosemary: camphor-borneol (Spain), 1,8 cineole (Tunisia), and verbenone (France), each offering distinct therapeutic benefits. Its role as a brain stimulant and memory enhancer has been acknowledged for centuries, making it one of the best-known aromatic herbs.

Therapeutic Properties Rosemary has an uplifting and stimulating effect on the mind, improving memory, focus, and clarity. Rosemary essential oil is celebrated for its antifungal, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-rheumatic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, cephalic, diuretic, expectorant, hepatoprotective, insecticidal, and nervine properties. It supports the nervous system by stimulating the brain, improving concentration, and alleviating nervous debility and headaches. In the cardiovascular system, it acts as a heart tonic, addressing cardiac fatigue, palpitations, angina, and circulatory issues. For the digestive system, it aids in dyspepsia, flatulence, chronic gastroenteritis, colitis, and liver toning. In the respiratory system, the 1,8 cineole chemotype is effective for catarrhal conditions, bronchitis, asthma, and sinusitis, while the verbenone chemotype offers mucolytic properties. In the musculoskeletal system, rosemary oil relieves rheumatism, arthritis, sprains, strains, muscle fatigue, and edema.
